Sec. 18-63.  Same - Term of office; vacancies; resignation; compensation.

 

(a)  The term of each member shall be three years, except that the term of office of two of the members appointed to the first Arts Council shall be for only two years and the term of one member appointed to the first Arts Council shall be for only one year.

 

(b)  In the event that a vacancy shall occur during the term of any member, a successor shall be appointed for the unexpired portion of the term by the mayor with the approval of city council.

 

(c)  A member whose term has expired may be reappointed for an additional term by the mayor with the approval of city council.

 

(d)  Should any member, including the city representative, miss more than three consecutive meetings without a valid excuse, it will be viewed as abandonment of the position and the member will be removed from the Arts Council.

 

(e)  The resignation of a member shall be made in writing and sent to both the mayor and to the chairperson of the Arts Council.

 

(f)  No member of the Arts Council shall receive pay or compensation for his or her services as a member of the Arts Council.
