The City of Norfolk Parks and Recreation Division is thrilled to announce that it has received a generous $15,000 grant from the Kansas City Royals Foundation, the charitable arm of the Kansas City Royals Major League Baseball organization. This funding will directly support ongoing enhancements at the Kohler Softball Complex in Ta-Ha-Zouka Park.
The grant will be used to fund continued improvements to the Kohler Softball Complex, including upgrades to the backstop, press box, and umpire changing rooms, as well as playground enhancements, if funding allows. These improvements aim to create a safer and more enjoyable environment for athletes, coaches, and fans alike.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Kansas City Royals Foundation for their generous donation in support of our ball fields at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park. This contribution will play a pivotal role in helping us complete much-needed improvements at the Kohler Softball Complex,” said Parks and Recreation Director Nathan Powell. “Their commitment to enhancing local sports facilities will have a lasting impact on the athletes and families who use these fields, and we are thrilled to continue working together to create a better, safer, and more enjoyable environment for the community.”
The City of Norfolk Parks and Recreation Division encourages the community to stay tuned for updates on the Kohler Softball Complex project. We look forward to celebrating the completion of these upgrades with everyone who shares a love for the game and a passion for community growth.
“This is an exciting partnership for our community. Grants like this from the Kansas City Royals Foundation make a real difference. They help us create new spaces like the Kohler Softball Complex, which brings people together and gives our young athletes a place to grow and succeed. We’re grateful for their support and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on Norfolk,” said Mayor Shane Clausen.
