Norfolk Fire Division to Conduct Water Rescue Training

The Norfolk Fire Division will be conducting water rescue training this week, which will include hands-on exercises at the North Fork Whitewater Park.

“This course provides fire and rescue personnel with the opportunity to learn and practice essential water rescue techniques,” said Assistant Chief Trever O’Brien. “The first part of the week will focus on Swift Water Rescue I, and the latter half will cover Swift Water Rescue II. The training will culminate in a final exercise on Friday, September 13th, where participants will demonstrate the skills, they’ve acquired.”

The Norfolk Fire Division is committed to minimizing disruptions to the community during the training. While fire apparatus and personnel will be present at the Whitewater Park, community members are encouraged to continue using the park as usual. Most training activities will be confined to open sidewalks and water areas, with no impact on the closed sections of Johnson Park.

Norfolk Fire will be conducting training at the Whitewater Park on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. For questions, please contact the Fire Division at 402-844-2050.
