The City of Norfolk is proud to announce that two of its Public Works Divisions have received prestigious accolades for their dedication to safety and operational excellence.
At the Nebraska Water Environment Association Fall Conference last month, the Water Pollution Control (WPC) Plant was awarded the Gold Safety Award, which recognizes exceptional achievements in accident prevention and safety programs. The Norfolk WPC Plant has maintained an exemplary safety record, with no time-loss accidents for over six years.
The WPC Plant also received the Scott Wilber Award, which celebrates outstanding facilities that demonstrate superior environmental and operational standards. This honor highlights Norfolk WPC’s unwavering commitment to excellence in its field.
Additionally, at the 2023 American Water Works Association Conference, the Water Division was honored with the 2023 Safety Award. This recognition underscores the division’s commitment to maintaining an exceptional safety record, implementing a robust safety program, and providing comprehensive safety training.
The Water Division’s safety initiatives include monthly safety talks, regular training sessions to enhance staff preparedness, and investments in state-of-the-art safety equipment, ensuring a secure working environment for all team members.
