Norfolk, Nebraska, was recently recognized by Joy Organics in a survey titled '150 Best Places in America to Escape the Rat Race.' The ranking showcases the 150 most sought-after towns and cities in America “for those wanting to distance themselves from the relentless pace of the rat race.”
Out of four Nebraska communities included in the rankings, Norfolk topped the list, coming in at 73. According to Joy Organics, 'Known for its musical heritage and charming downtown, Norfolk provides a tranquil and culturally engaging experience, ideal for those seeking a peaceful lifestyle with a touch of history and arts.'
According to the survey, some of the implications of the study include an increased desire for balance, cultural and historical appeal, and natural and tranquil settings. “Many of the top choices are towns and cities with rich cultural and historical significance, indicating a desire to connect with history and community,” the survey concluded. “Preference for places with natural beauty and tranquility suggest a need for connection with nature and a slower pace of life.”
“It’s terrific to see Norfolk getting noticed for its investments in an exceptional quality of life environment,” said Mayor Josh Moenning. “We’re distinguishing ourselves in a good way – gaining a reputation for being a place with a unique kind of vibrancy, energy, and imagination. This helps meet our ultimate goals of retaining youth, attracting newcomers, and creating a place to live where community pride matters, and everyone can find a sense of belonging.”
