Monday night the Norfolk City Council voted to approve Ordinance No. 5694 amending Section 18-17 of the City Code to amend the rules and regulations for the operation and utilization of Norfolk Skate Park. The major takeaways from the ordinance are provided below.
· Only skateboards, in-line skates and BMX bikes (pegs not allowed) are permitted to use the facility.
· Helmets and other protective gear are highly recommended.
· No food, drink, gum, tobacco, or pets allowed in the skate park.
· No glass containers, graffiti, stickers or tagging of any kind.
· Be courteous and respectful to others – no profanity or loud music.
· Reckless, dangerous or overly-aggressive participants may be required to leave the facility.
· Spectators are to remain outside the skating area.
· Please help keep the facility clean – use available trash containers.
· Children age 9 and under must be supervised by a parent or individual at least 16 years old.
The park is open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and is an unsupervised facility. Occupants are permitted to use at their own risk and should adhere to the rules at all times. Any noncompliance is a violation subject to a fine, in addition to other penalties.
