The City of Norfolk will participate in the annual statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. This drill provides an opportunity for residents, businesses, and industries to test their severe weather emergency preparedness plans.
The drill will begin around 10:00 a.m. with the issuance of a mock tornado warning, followed by the activation of outdoor warning sirens. If severe weather is expected on that day, the drill may be postponed or canceled.
Additionally, the City of Norfolk’s outdoor warning siren system will undergo routine testing starting Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Weather permitting tests will be conducted on the first and third Tuesday of April through September. The scheduled testing dates are as follows: April 1, April 15, May 6, May 20, June 3, June 17, July 1, July 15, August 5, August 19, September 2, and September 16.
