East Benjamin Connector Trail
Project Overview:
This trail project is designed to further enhance the connectivity of the existing City of Norfolk trail system. The project begins west of Victory Road and runs east along East Benjamin Avenue, crossing Victory Road and Nebraska Highway 35 before connecting to an existing trail. This project consists of the construction of approximately 6,000 linear feet of 10 foot wide trail along the north side of Benjamin Avenue. Along with approximately 700 linear feet of 10 foot wide trail along the west side of Victory Road.
Project Schedule:
A bid letting is scheduled for May 10, 2022. Construction will begin summer 2022 and finish by the end of the year.
Project Funding:
The East Benjamin Avenue Connector Trail is partially funded by a Recreational Trails Program grant through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The Game and Parks will reimburse 80% of the project costs up to $250,000 and the City of Norfolk is required to match 20% of the total cost of the project.
