Julie Drahota was honored with the 2024 Orville Stanton Distinguished Service Award earlier this month at the Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NE NAHRO) fall conference in Norfolk.
This award is presented to a leader and active member of NE NAHRO who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting safe and affordable housing in Nebraska.
Drahota has been a cornerstone of the Norfolk Housing Agency for over 30 years, earning widespread admiration for her dedication and expertise. She began her career while still in high school and has since advanced to the role of Program Director for the Section 8 program, accumulating extensive knowledge in various housing initiatives.
“I am humbled to receive such a great honor,” Drahota remarked.
Julie's influence extends far beyond her professional role. She actively mentors others in the industry and has played a key part in the success of projects like Project Homeless Connect. Her calm, compassionate approach, coupled with her clear communication with clients and staff, has made her the go-to person for resolving complex issues.
“Julie is very deserving of the Orville Stanton Memorial Award for Distinguished Service, presented by Nebraska NAHRO. Her years of dedicated service in assisting the many families supported by the Norfolk Housing Agency is truly commendable. The entire staff of the Norfolk Housing Agency congratulates Julie on receiving this prestigious award,” said Gary Bretschneider.
