COVID UPDATE: Current Library Services

Updated and effective Thursday, November 12: 

Madison County is now in the Red Level of the Risk Dial provided by the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health District. Visitors are required to wear face coverings inside the building at this time.


Red Zone hours and services:

  • Building Hours
    • Normal Service Hours in the Building and at the Drive Thru
      • Monday-Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday & Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 1:30-4:30
      • Special hour for high-risk populations: Monday-Friday 9am-10am
  • Services
    • A reminder of these Special Low Contact Options:
      • Drive-Thru pickup of items is available at the drive-up window on the east side of the building. Patrons may call the library at 402-844-2100 and request that items be held for them at the window. There is a maximum of five items requested at a time.  If using this service, please request the items at least an hour in advance of the expected pick up time. 
      • Locker pickup of items is available. Lockers are located on the east side of the building. Patrons may call the library at 402-844-2100 and request that items be held for them in a locker. There is a maximum of five items requested at a time. 
    • Due dates can be extended for anyone who needs to quarantine. Call 402-844-2100 to request.
    • Normal services will be provided in the building as long as social distancing can be followed.
    • The Meeting Room will still be available, but only one group may meet at a time, to allow for maximum space and safety. The maximum capacity for the Meeting Room is now 37 people.
    • The number of computers available will be further reduced to allow for social distancing between users. Computer use is limited to 60 minutes per day. 
    • Lounge and study seating will be made available in accordance with current DHM guidance on building occupancy rates of 25%.
    • Children age 13 and younger will need to be accompanied by an adult in the building to ensure that social distancing is followed
  • Programs
    • No in-person programs will occur in the library.
    • MakerSpace training will be available upon request.
  • Disinfecting
    • Increased disinfection of high touch surfaces will continue.
    • Increased disinfecting of soft seating in the public area will continue.
    • Provision of hand sanitizer to the public will continue.
    • Library book covers and media cases will continue to be disinfected upon return.
  • Library Staff
    • All Staff will wear masks when in the public areas of the building and when near other staff.
    • Staff will be vigilant about hand washing and sanitizing after handling materials and helping patrons.
