August 24th Press Release

 

On August 23, 2022, Norfolk Police investigated a burglary that occurred overnight, at a business in the 2000 block of West Pasewalk Avenue.  The suspect was caught on surveillance video breaking into a drawer that contained a cash box and removing the cash.  He had a distinctive neck tattoo.  Staff suspected that the individual was part of the nighttime cleaning crew.  Officers had contact with the cleaning company staff and he was identified as a former employee of the company.  Staff identified the suspect as Gonzalo Amescua, 47, of Norfolk.  Officers had contact with Amescua later in the afternoon.  He matched the person in the video along with having the same distinctive neck tattoo.  He was arrested for burglary and housed in the Norfolk City Jail.  He will later be transferred to the Madison County Jail.
