August 6th Press Release

 On August 6, 2022 at 7:28 a.m., Norfolk Police responded to a shots fired call in the 900 block of South 3rd Street. Officers arrived and determined that several firearm shots were directed at a house. Bullet holes were documented in the home and shell casings recovered. No injuries were reported. A vehicle, and person of interest, was identified. 

 

At the conclusion of the incident in the 2400 block of Madison Avenue on Saturday August 6, 2022.  The suspect, Nicholas G. Valbuena, 22, of Norfolk, left the residence through a window as officers entered the home.  He ran north where perimeter officers saw him and pursued.  A Norfolk Police officer and a Nebraska State Trooper took Valbuena into custody after a short foot pursuit.  He was arrested for unlawful discharge of a firearm, attempted first-degree assault, terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
