Covid Mask Press Release

The City of Norfolk strives to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our local businesses open through this pandemic.  One method to help accomplish this is by the use of face coverings.  Yesterday, November 23rd, the Norfolk City Council implemented a face covering mandate for individuals inside premises open to the general public with certain exceptions. (Ordinance Sec. 11-62)

The ordinance goes into effect on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.

Norfolk Police Division will do our part to help educate the public and strive for voluntary compliance of this mandate.  In the event there is a concern you would like to report, we have set up a separate phone number to call.  This is in an effort to keep our 911 dispatch center lines available for emergencies.  If you feel the need to report a COVID-19 related concern, please call (402) 844-2144 and talk to our staff, or leave a message.  All other concerns can still be handled by calling (402) 644-8700 or 911 for emergencies.
