July 18th Press Release

On July 16, 2022 at 7:25 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to the 2600 block of Westside Plaza for a complaint of drug usage.  The caller stated that there were individuals behind the building and that they were actively ingesting drugs.  When officers arrived, they covertly approached the building.  An officer recognized one of the individuals as Skyler A. Rodekohr, 27, of Norfolk.  The officer believed, and then confirmed, that there was an active Madison County arrest warrant for him.  The officers then approached the group.  As they were walking toward the group, another male in the group dropped a small item on the ground and stepped on it.  Rodekohr was handcuffed and taken into custody for the outstanding warrant.  In a subsequent search, officers recovered a cigarette pack from him, containing a small amount of methamphetamine.  The second male was identified as Jeremy D. Dewitt, 43, homeless.  Dewitt was placed in handcuffs and a small cloth bindle was retrieved from beneath his foot.  Inside the bindle was a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine.  Both men were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  Both were housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
