October 12, 2021 Press Release

On October 9, 2021 at 9:30 a.m., Norfolk Police were called to a business in the 4600 block of West Norfolk Avenue for a burglary report.  Sometime between October 8th at 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. on October 9th, someone had entered the business and stole cash.  Business employees and the responding officer reviewed the surveillance video and were able to identify the suspect as Eirene E. Waite, 56, of Norfolk, a past employee of the business. Waite is seen on security footage entering the business at approximately 4:30 a.m. and taking several items.  A check of her history showed an active Madison County arrest warrant possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear while on bail.

On October 11th, Waite was located in the 800 block of S. 13th Street and placed under arrest for the warrant.  In a subsequent search, officers recovered a small baggie of methamphetamine, two pipes and a bag of marijuana.  Wait was arrested for the Madison County warrant, burglary, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
