Sept 12th Press Release

On September 9, 2022, a third-degree sexual assault of a child was reported to the Norfolk Police Division.  The victim was a 15-year-old female.  She reported that Carlos J. Lopez-Perez, 43, of Norfolk had touched intimate parts of her body, over her clothing, several times over the past year.  Officers initiated an investigation and had contact with Lopez-Perez on September 10th.  They spoke to him about the allegations and arrested him for third-degree sexual assault of a child.  He was held in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.

On September 9, 2022, five vehicles were reported stolen from various areas of Norfolk.  One of the stolen vehicles was recovered the following day from the 1400 block of Amberwood Drive. During the investigation into the five stolen vehicles, officers were provided leads from the victims and the public.  With this information, officers were able to identify two 16-year-old male juveniles as the suspects.  Officers had contact with the suspects and spoke to them about the stolen vehicles.  Items stolen from the vehicles were recovered from one of the suspect’s bedroom.  Both juveniles were arrested for theft and were housed in the Madison County Youth Detention Center.  All the stolen vehicles were recovered.
