September 21st Press Release 2022

On September 20, 2022 at 6:12 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to the 200 block of Madison Avenue to check the welfare of a male subject that was lying on the sidewalk passed out. There was a credit card on the subject’s stomach, his driver’s license under his leg along with an open cigarette box.  Officers had trouble waking the subject.  They collected the credit card, driver’s license, and cigarette box as they continued to try to arouse him.  When they collected the open cigarette box, the officer saw a clear plastic baggie containing green pills, which the officer recognized as Xanax.  Eventually officers were able to wake the male up.  He was identified as Christopher A. Short, 21, homeless.  Officers explained why they were there and questioned him about the prescription medication  He did not have a prescription for it.  Short was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
