2023 Green Leaf Award Winners Announced

Erica Daake with Coldwell Banker Dover Realtors accepts the Green Leaf Award

In 2011, the City of Norfolk Tree Advisory Board initiated the Green Leaf Award. This year, the board recognized a resident and a business for their outstanding contributions.

The Green Leaf Award spotlights exceptional landscaping on properties, and nominations are accepted from August through September. The winners in both the residential and business categories are chosen based on their street-visible appeal, or "curb appeal," and the integration of trees into their design.

This year’s Green Leaf Award for Business goes to Coldwell Banker Dover Realtors. They are honored not only for their welcoming landscaping, which has become a downtown Norfolk staple, but also for their beautiful curb appeal featuring manicured lawns and flowers. The building, located on Norfolk Avenue, was originally constructed in 1980 and received an addition in 2006 to achieve its present appearance.

Brandon Dailey is the recipient of this year's Green Leaf Residence Award. Brandon and his wife purchased their home at 200 West Walnut Avenue in 2013 and transformed a lifeless lawn into the beautiful landscape you see today. Brandon has dedicated countless hours to tending to the lawn and nurturing the trees, ensuring their well-being. He personally handles all watering, fertilizing, and lawn treatments. Brandon spends his evenings and weekends weeding, edging, and mowing the lawn.
