Volunteers Needed for Clean the Fork Day

Volunteers are needed for the 7th annual Clean the Fork Day scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024. Volunteers are asked to arrive at North Fork Outfitting, located at 205 North 2nd Street, at 10:00 a.m. to register and pick up equipment.

Teams will be dispersed to multiple locations throughout Norfolk, including Ta-Ha-Zouka Park, Skyview Park, and Norfolk Skate Park.

"We want to honor Earth Day by rolling up our sleeves and cleaning up the river and parks,” said PJ Evans, City of Norfolk Assistant Director of Recreation. “I would like to extend my gratitude to the community for anyone willing to come out to join us on April 20th for Clean the Fork Day. Together, hand in hand, we paint a vibrant canvas of cleanliness, unity, and community pride.”

Volunteers should bring their own supplies, such as grabbers, sunscreen, bug spray, and boots. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

"As we embark on the bustling tourism season, our priority is to present Norfolk in its most inviting light by addressing the cleanliness of these high-traffic areas," said Traci Jeffrey, Executive Director of Visit Norfolk.

Following the cleanup, a volunteer picnic is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at North Fork Outfitting. Everyone is welcome to join in.
