Disc Golf Basket Installation Continues This Week

The Norfolk Fire Division is taking part in the American Red Cross “Sound the Alarm” campaign in April.

Norfolk Fire is offering free home fire safety information and smoke alarm installations on Saturday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half.

Work To Begin On Benjamin Avenue

Reconstruction and widening of Benjamin Avenue from 13th Street east to 1st Street is set to start on April 4th. Phase 1 will reconstruct the eastbound lanes from Riverside Boulevard east to Burger King.

Open House Set For Benjamin Avenue Project

The public is invited to attend an open house highlighting the Benjamin Avenue Improvement Project on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Norfolk City Council Chambers (309 North 5th Street) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Concrete Work Begins Next Week

Due to concrete replacement work, citizens need to be mindful traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one on East Monroe Avenue from 1st street going east to the City of Norfolk Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Tree Removal Underway this Week

In preparation for both the Benjamin Avenue reconstruction project and Johnson Park improvements, tree removal will begin Tuesday, March 15.

Trees west of Riverside Boulevard will be taken out along with some trees on North 1st Street and in Johnson Park. As part of the Johnson Park project a number of trees will be relocated and replanted.
