The City of Norfolk-Fire Division enforces the State of Nebraska's ban on open burning.  Open burning is prohibited unless a waiver (burning permit) is issued from either fire station.  Open burning permits are allowed outside the city limits, (conditions permitting)\

There are certain situations where an open burning permit may be issued within city limits with approval of the Fire Chief, or his designee.  Each of these requests will be evaluated and permission is given on a case by case basis.

As a reminder the only items which may be burned are natural vegetation native to the property where it is to be burned. Sawed or painted lumber, tires or other non-natural items may not be burned and will need to be disposed of in a different manner.
