Open House at Kensington

The public is invited to an open house at the Kensington, Wednesday April 26th from 6 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests can come and go as they please visiting the historic building in downtown Norfolk before the upcoming $14 million redevelopment project begins.

“The Norfolk Housing Agency is excited to allow the citizens of Norfolk the opportunity to stop by and experience the Kensington,” said Gary Bretschneider, Executive Director of the Norfolk Housing Agency. “We will have some old photos, news articles, pictures and items that were in the Kensington over the years. It should be a neat experience!”

“This will allow Norfolk Housing Agency to slowly turn the page on this section of history for this building. We are excited to see what Ho-Chunk Capital will do to transform this building back to its initial purpose of serving people as they come to downtown Norfolk.”

Ho-Chunk Capital purchased the property last year and will convert the historic building into a boutique hotel.

Visitors are also encouraged to bring any memories of the Kensington to share as well. If you have any questions, call the Housing Agency at 402-844-2080.
