On April 4, 2024, at 8:13 a.m., Norfolk Police were notified of a minor accident that had occurred at 7th Street and Madison Avenue between two cars. The two vehicles pull off the roadway near the railroad tracks in the 600 block of West Madison Avenue. As they were exchanging information, a south bound train began approaching. One of the driver’s could not locate the keys to the parked car and was unable to move it before the train collided with it, pushing it into the second parked car. Both cars were unoccupied at the time of the collision and no injuries were reported. The train stopped after the collision and was blocking Madison, Norfolk, and Braasch Avenues until 8:51 a.m.
