December 12th Press Release 2022

On December 9th, at approximately 1:13 p.m. Norfolk police officers were dispatched to a residence in
the area of 11'*^ Street and Phillip Ave. on a complaint of a female subject that was squatting(occupying
without owning or renting) in the residence and was refusing to leave. When officers arrived on scene
they were able to talk to the complainants, who directed the officers to the suspect. The officers had
contact with the suspect who was identified as Magan M. Mahlin 37, Norfolk. The officers discovered
that Mahlin had two warrants for her arrest. Mahlin was arrested for the warrants and transported to the
Norfolk city jail. During a search of Mahlin and her belongings a container was located and it appear to
contain methamphetamine. The substance was tested and it tested positive for methamphetamine. Mahlin
was booked into jail on the two warrants as well as for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mahlin was
later transported to the Madison County jail.


On December 6'*^, at approximately 1:27 p.m. a Norfolk police officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle
that did not have license plates. The traffic stop was in the area of 5^^ Street and Phillip Ave. The driver
of the vehicle was Joseph W. Beyer 40, Norfolk. During check of Beyer the officer learned that Beyer's
driver's license was suspended. Beyer was arrested for Driving under Suspension. During a search of the
vehicle, a plastic baggie was located. The baggie contained a substance believed to be metHamphetamine.
The substance was tested and it tested positive for methamphetamine. Beyer was booked into the Norfolk
city jail for Driving under Suspension and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Beyer was later
transported to the Madison County jail.
