On December 25, 2022 at 4:56 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to a residence in the 400 block of East Braasch Avenue for a disturbance.  A male subject, identified as John Thompson, 50, of Norfolk, had left the residence prior to the officer’s arrival.  Officers located him in the 200 block of North Pine Street.  Officers noted that he smelled of marijuana and was holding a small baggie of marijuana in his hand.  Officers seized the marijuana and spoke to him about the disturbance while other officers spoke to the female involved, which was still at the residence on Braasch Avenue. It was learned that when Johnson left, he was carrying a bag and that drugs and paraphernalia were contained in it.  Officers located the bag that Johnson had discarded before officers had contact with him.  The bag contained a small amount of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and other drug paraphernalia.  Thompson was arrested for two counts of possession of controlled substances.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
