February 17th Press Release 2024

On February 21, 2024, at 2:40 a.m., Norfolk Police responded to the 1300 block of East Hayes Avenue for the report of someone damaging a parked vehicle.  As the officers were responding, the suspect left in a vehicle.  The reporting party provided a description of the vehicle.  A Stanton County deputy saw the vehicle and followed the car until Norfolk officers performed a traffic stop on it.  A passenger in the car was identified as the suspect.  She provided a false name to the officer during the investigation, but was later identified as Jena K. Holmes, 32, of Norfolk.  Another officer responded to the victim’s location and documented the damage.  There were deep scratches down the entire on the driver’s side and hood.  The windshield and driver’s side window were broken out as well as the door handle being broken off.  Officers estimated the damage to the vehicle at over $5,000.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Holmes was arrested for criminal mischief and criminal impersonation.  She was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
