 On January 8, 2022 at 9:22 a.m., a Norfolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle because the registered owner had an active Stanton County arrest warrant.  The officer had contact with the driver and asked for identification.  The driver stated that he did not have his license and then verbally identified himself with a fake name.  The officer confirmed the driver’s identity as Jake R. Short, 21, of Tilden, the registered owner, by obtaining his driver’s license photo.  Short was arrested for criminal impersonation and the Stanton County arrest warrant. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.

On January 8, 2022, at 11:23 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to an apartment in the 1300 block of E. Grove Avenue for a disturbance.  The caller stated that there were both adults the children yelling in one of the apartments.  When officers arrived the adults and children were still yelling.  Officers knocked for several minutes and no one would open the door.  Officers then proceeded to enter the apartment where they saw fresh blood and signs of an apparent struggle.  They located Emmanuel Flores, 33, of Norfolk exiting a bedroom.  He was uncooperative with the officers and would not say who was injured and bleeding.  Officer located an injured adult female and two children hiding in a bedroom closet.  The female’s left eye was swollen shut, and bruised, and she had a bloody nose.  Flores was arrested for third degree domestic assault.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
