June 21, 2021 Press Release

On June 20, 2021 at 1:20 a.m., Norfolk Police were called to a business in the 100 block of East Omaha Avenue for a disturbance.  When officers arrived, the employee stated that a male had been in the store and attempted to purchase alcohol and cigarettes.  The clerk refused to sell the alcohol, as the man was already intoxicated.  This upset the man and he picked up a wire rack and threw it at the employee, striking him.  In doing this, it also damaged additional merchandise that was on the counter.  The clerk was able to provide a vehicle description and license plate of the car that the male left in.  Additional officers located the car and performed a traffic stop.  The male was the passenger in the car and identified as Josue D. Larios Ramos, 22, of Norfolk. Officers spoke to Larios about the situation and then arrested him for second-degree assault.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail

On June 20, 2021 at 11:29 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to 1201 S. 13th Street for a disturbance.  An employee stated that Timothy J. Lewis, 34, homeless, has a hotel room on the second floor and had thrown a chair and beer bottles off the balcony and was causing a disturbance.  Staff had asked him to leave the property, but he refused.  Officers had contact with a heavily intoxicated Lewis just outside of his room.  Officers asked Lewis to leave the property, but he stated that he was not leaving without a fight.  Lewis was then taken into custody for second-degree trespassing.  After being handcuffed, he continued to verbally threaten the staff.  A second charge of third-degree assault – threatening in a menacing manner, was then added to his charges. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail
