November 15th Press Release 2022

On November 15, 2022 at 10:39 p.m., a Norfolk Police officer was called to a residence in the 400 block of West Monroe Avenue to speak to an adult male about an argument that had just occurred between himself and his girlfriend.  His girlfriend had left prior to the officer’s arrival and the officer offered some options to the male.  At 11:02 p.m., Norfolk Police were called back to the same residence for an assault.  When officers arrived, they found the same male bleeding from his forehead.  The victim stated that his girlfriend had returned to the residence with a male whom he did not know.  The male pointed a handgun at the victim and there was a subsequent struggle and physical altercation between the two males, ending with the victim being struck in the forehead with the pistol.  While the officer was speaking to the victim, the girlfriend and Cody A. Hansen, 27, of Norfolk, came to the Police Division.  They both were interviewed about the evening’s events.  A Ruger 9mm handgun was recovered from Hansen’s vehicle and Hansen was arrested for second-degree assault, terroristic threats and use of a firearm to commit a felony.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
