September 11th Press Release 2023

On September 9, 2023, at 1:23 a.m., a Norfolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was weaving in its lane and had crossed the center yellow dividing line several times.  The officer had contact with the driver who was identified as Robert G. Key III, 34, of Norfolk.  During this contact the officer could smell alcohol coming from Key and asked him to perform field sobriety maneuvers.  The results of the maneuvers showed impairment. Key was arrested for fourth offense driving under the influence of alcohol and driving during suspension.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.

On September 10, 2023, at 6:20 a.m., Norfolk Police were called to an apartment in the 900 block of Syracuse Avenue for a physical disturbance between a male and female.  The male, identified as Timothy A. Anderson, 26, of Norfolk, had left the apartment but officers located him in the 1000 block of Benjamin Avenue.  The officer attempted to have contact with him, but he fled on foot.  Officers caught up to him a few blocks away and detained him while they investigated the assault.  The pregnant female victim described that she had been in a verbal argument with Anderson that escalated to Anderson pushing the victim, placing her in a headlock, and choking her.  The victim had red marks on her neck, her hands were red and swollen, and there was a red mark on her forehead.  The victim's children were inside the apartment during the assault.  Anderson was arrested for third-degree domestic assault, criminal offense against a pregnant woman, assault by strangulation, obstructing a police officer and child abuse. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
