Christmas Tree Recycle Program To Take Place

The 34th Annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program kicks off next week. Area residents and businesses are asked to bring any live Christmas trees to the Norfolk Fire Division Training Center (302 E. Benjamin Ave.) starting December 26, 2022 through January 14, 2023 to be recycled.

The public meeting to highlight Benjamin Avenue and 1st Street construction has been rescheduled due to forecasted weather.

The meeting is now set for Wednesday, December 21 at the Norfolk City Council Chambers (309 North 5th Street) from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Representatives from both BX-Civil & Construction and United Contractors will be on hand to share current progress and answer questions.

Water Main Break May Cause Discolored Water

The City of Norfolk experienced a water main break on Benjamin Avenue Tuesday night. Due to the break you may experience discolored water. The water is bacteria free and safe for use.  

City staff will be flushing hydrants in affected areas Wednesday, November 30. Please contact the Water Division, 402-844-2210, if you experience any discolored water.

Norfolk Water Pollution Control Honored

 The Norfolk Water Pollution Control (WPC) Plant was recognized for its work at the annual Nebraska Water Environment Association (NWEA) fall conference earlier this month.

The WPC Plant received the Scott Wilber Award – Best in Class Medium Size Facility. The award is given for outstanding operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility.
