There are seven whitewater drop features in the river. Safety training courses will be provided by the Parks and Recreation Division. Check our Active page for courses and registration: Norfolk Parks & Rec Active Page.

There is one river surfing feature. River surfing will have a consistent flow. Flow rates will be available on the Norfolk Parks and Recreation website.

Parking is available at the 1st Street Put In, Winter Park Put In, and Johnson Park Take-Out. There is trail access to the first and last drop structures from Johnson Park. There is no cost to use the river with access for everyone. Patrons are encouraged to bring your own kayak, paddle board, tube, surfboard or contact local outfitters for rental information.
