Library Governance & Getting Involved
The Norfolk Public Library is a division of the City of Norfolk. The library has a Citizens Library Advisory Board that advises the Mayor and City Council in regard to the operation, maintenance, and development of the public library. Board Members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council. The Board consists of five members who serve five-year terms. Meetings are held every other month on Monday evenings and are open to the public.

The Norfolk Library Foundation is a 501(c)3 Nebraska Non-Profit organization that provides supplemental funding to the Norfolk Public Library. Some of the major programs supported by the Library Foundation are the Summer Reading Program for all ages, the “Start Making a Reader Today” program for new parents, and the Annual Literature Festival. The Norfolk Library Foundation welcomes gifts to its endowment fund as well as memorial donations and other special designated gifts. The Norfolk Library Foundation is currently calling for submissions from artists for a three-dimensional, hanging art piece at the Norfolk Public Library. The artist must have some connection to northeast Nebraska, but current residency is not required. Submissions are due on February 24. See here for complete details and application forms.
