River Point Square
Project Overview:
The eye-catching Johnny Carson mural at the intersection of Third Street and Norfolk Avenue will one day overlook a new public space to be known as River Point Square. The project is partially funded through funds from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
Project Schedule:
- Design 2019
- April 2020 Let for bid
- Construction begins August 2020
- Majority of Construction complete by Fall 2020
- Landscaping completed in Spring of 2021
Project Funding:
River Point Square is possible because of a federal grant for downtown revitalization, which is overseen by the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District. The grant gives part of the funding, and the city matched funds for the project.
