Open House Set For Benjamin Avenue Project

The public is invited to attend an open house highlighting the Benjamin Avenue Improvement Project on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Norfolk City Council Chambers (309 North 5th Street) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Representatives from the contractor, BX-Civil & Construction, will discuss the phasing plans for the project set to begin in April. A formal presentation will take place.

Concrete Work Begins Next Week

Due to concrete replacement work, citizens need to be mindful traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one on East Monroe Avenue from 1st street going east to the City of Norfolk Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Work is set to begin Wednesday, March 23 weather permitting and should last approximately three to four weeks. Please use caution in the area and slow down.

Tree Removal Underway this Week

In preparation for both the Benjamin Avenue reconstruction project and Johnson Park improvements, tree removal will begin Tuesday, March 15.

Trees west of Riverside Boulevard will be taken out along with some trees on North 1st Street and in Johnson Park. As part of the Johnson Park project a number of trees will be relocated and replanted.

Sidewalk Evaluations Underway

Concrete Improvements Continue

Work is continuing on concrete street improvements throughout Norfolk. Construction will commence on Hillview Drive from College View Drive to Sheridan Drive beginning November 9th or 10th weather permitting.

Repairs are slated for Sheridan south to the 1600 Block of Hillview. The intersection at College View and Hillview will be closed, and residents need to find alternate routes.

Mill & Overlay Work Completed

Concrete Improvements Project Update

Work is continuing on concrete street improvements throughout Norfolk. A portion of Taylor Avenue will be closed beginning Tuesday October 26th.

Repairs are slated for Taylor Avenue from Market Lane to 25th Street, and the closure should last approximately three to four weeks pending weather. Please use alternate routes during this time.

Concrete Improvements Project Update

Work is continuing on concrete improvements throughout Norfolk. Repairs on Monroe Avenue from 15th to 16th Streets is slated to begin Monday, October 18th.

2021 Mill & Overlay Project Update 10-7-21

Work on Michigan Avenue from 13th Street to Glenn Street will begin Friday, and it will be flagged with one lane kept open. 

Work on the Highway 81 and Omaha Avenue intersection will get underway Monday, October 11th at 4 p.m.
